🚨 Could the next major war be fought primarily over AI?

Wars have traditionally been driven by territory, religion, oil, trade routes and access to strategic resources.

AI could become the next defining source of power.

The most capable systems will/already influence:

• Cyberattacks and critical infrastructure • Autonomous weapons and military intelligence • Scientific and biological research • Economic productivity • Surveillance and information control • Access to chips, data centres and energy

We are already seeing the early signs through drone warfare, AI-assisted targeting and increasingly capable models with obvious military applications.

The US is restricting the flow of advanced chips into China.

China is also reportedly considering limits on exporting powerful model weights and strategic AI technology, while American AI executives are warning governments about Chinese open models.

It is naive to assume everyone who develops or gains access to powerful AI will use it responsibly.

Future conflicts may still involve land, resources and ideology but AI will have the capability to decides who wins them.
